India exported $27.8 billion worth of drugs in the financial year 2024, achieving 9.6 per cent growth amidst global challenges. Exports are expected to reach more than $31 billion in the next financial year, Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) said.
Speaking at the 10th edition of PharmaLytica, Ravi Uday Bhaskar, Director General, Pharmexcil, said: “50 per cent of our exports are going to highly regulated markets. In the US, we witnessed 15 per cent growth in exports, and 21 per cent in UK. This demonstrates robust growth of the Indian pharmaceutical industry. As long as India continues to manufacture quality drugs at affordable prices, the industry will remain unmatched.”
The expo, organised by Informa Markets in India, commenced on Thursday at Hitex. Various stakeholders came together to engage in discussions, and showcase products and technologies.
